We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and were seated quickly - it's small but efficient! The food is pretty good, the flavor of the sauces was a little weak compared to dishes in Malaysia but overall really delicious and definitely scratched the itch. Roti came out piping hot and the satay chicken was a highlight. It's small but cute and a great price point. And fyi, cash only!

This is your no frills, hole-in-the-wall spot, but it is, without a doubt, a beloved staple in Elmhurst -- for it remains here unchanged for as long as I could remember. Arrived here on Sunday around noon and was greeted with the hustle and bustle of servers and customers. Luckily we managed to get a seat and wasted no time ordering. Got a few things to enjoy family style and all of them hit the spot! SINGAPOREAN KARI LAKSA: This is what I came for and it was more than I could ever dream of. The laksa was umami and savory, but somehow still very light. It came with an assortment of protein (tofu, chicken, fish cake and egg) along with some slippery and thick rice noodles. I honestly could slurp down an entire bowl easily. If there's one thing I would absolutely try from here, it's this. WOK SAUTÉED SILVER THREAD NOODLES: The wok hei on this was fragrant and prevalent. That char really elevated the dish and gave it that oomph. The noodles were cooked well and had that nice bouncy, chewy texture that you can't really get from other noodles. There were generous pieces of cuttlefish, which I initially didn't expect so that was a pleasant surprise. This was also a fan favorite! ROTI CANAI: Always love a good roti canai at a Malaysian joint. This one was a little on the smaller side, but was very flaky with so many layers. Paired with the curry, it was *chefs kiss. HAINANESE CHICKEN (HALF): You can order a full or half, but half was more than enough for 3 people. The chicken was silky and velvety with a good ratio of tender meat to skin. Coming from the gym, this was a good protein dense option. Must order the chicken rice to go with this!!! Based on the demographic, the workers spoke Cantonese, Malay, Mandarin and English. They were very friendly and always encouraged the customers to simply enjoy their meals as clean up and service is the staff's job. CASH ONLY.

Solid Malaysian spot! Hole in the wall and food is definitely a 10/10. Just not a 5 star because the place is not the cleanest. Every meal hits differently, they're all pretty unique and good. Every dish was super flavorful and cooked well. I'd recommend whatever you want to get on the menu. I've tried a decent amount of different dishes here and so far none of them have disappointed me. Be adventurous and explore! Not to mention the price is extremely fair! It is a cash only establishment so make sure to bring cash!

Solid Malaysian restaurant. Small, and busy. Service is fast and some of the servers are gruff. We loved the curry that came with the roti cani... the roti was nothing special, but the curry was awesome. Skip the beef satay... nothing wrong with it, but not awesome. The sizzling tofu was slightly over cooked, so the outside was very crunchy and the inside wasn't quite as silky as it could have been. My absolute favorite was the lamb rending! It was so good. The curry has the right amount of heat, the lamb was so tender and fell of the bone! Mmmmm... the fragrant fish was also amazing.. it was basically fried fish tenders with a great sambal.... yum. I lamb wasn't a fan of the mee gorang...I thought it packed flavor and was somewhat bland, but some of my companions enjoyed it. The spot is basic with pictures of all the dishes on the wall, and they're pretty accurate.

Been coming here for years and recently went back and I still love this place! It's a little grungy looking inside but the food is still very delicious. The sizzling tofu plate is soooo good. There are a bunch of pictures on the wall that are numbered if you're overwhelmed by the many options they have on the menu. Highly recommend for Malaysian food if you're in the area. Cash only!

Thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. The menu can be super overwhelming, so just look around at the pictures on the wall to decide what you want. Supper unassuming spot but definitely one to check out. Started with the roti, a must at this cuisine. It was what we expected, standard fare. Next was the sizzling tofu. This is a dish I was unfamiliar with and thoroughly enjoyed. The flavoring was great and the texture of the tofu was stellar. Highly recommend. We tried the hokkien char mee, a noodle dish with dark soy sauce. Not overly heavy with a nice noodle. Good balance for the other dish. We also got lamb rendang, which was also great. This we took home, in the end, as the previous 2 filled us up. However, always appreciate a good rendang.
